Tried to do my timing belt today, but got stuck trying to remove the crankshaft pulley.
Haynes says in 2 B.5 "Remove the four securing bolts, and remove the crankshaft pulley from the crankshaft damper".
I undid the four bolts, but was unable to remove the pulley.. I tried bashing it with wood n levering it, but it wouldn't budge
I have all the kit for removing the damper etc, but was not prepared for this..
Any advise..?

A: plenty of guides/how to on here if you search
B: forget pulley whole thing has to come off, undo bolt in middle(f@@@in tight)

I been searching but all I found was 300 tdi stuff.. I spend most of my time on here searching..

So, can I just (says "just" like its gonna be an easy job lol) remove the center damper bolt with the crankshaft pulley in place n it all comes off as one thing..?

I made me up a piece of flat (thick) metal with two holes in, which I will bolt onto the damper (where 2 of the bolts came out) to use as a lever to hold while I try to undo the damper bolt. I am hoping this will work as I don't fancy trying the starter motor crank way..

Off to look up a 3 legged puller.
Lots of various prices on ebay.. Would one of these do the job..? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-PC-THRE...45?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item51a1ea90cd

I got the timing belt changed today.. It took me 9 hours in total.
One of the bolts holding the water pump on had sheared leaving a stub, and it had seized to the timing cover. I had so much hassle trying to get the cover off, but got there in the end.
I did the belt and replaced the idler, tensioner and oil seal and put it all back together and fired the old girl up. All sounded good, but checking under the bonnet I saw water seeping out where that broken bolt was on the water pump. It got worse when I revved the engine, so I am gonna have to strip all the bits off again to try and silicon it up or something..

edit.. Crankshaft pulley damper and bolt ended up easy to do, I made me up a length of metal and drilled two holes in and bolted it to the damper. I held the other end and cracked the bolt with a breaker bar..
