can anyone tell me which way round my springs go..... are the slightly bigger springs at the front of at the back ?

the front is heavier ,shorter springs fit at front as angle of front axle needs shorter spring to keep truck level


As I said bigger springs at the rear.
Are you sure the fronts heavier, theres alot of vehicle from the back of the engine to the rear of the vehicle.

Empty the front will weigh more but stick 3 adults in the back and fill the boot with bags of sand and its a different story :D

So the rear has to take more weight than the front.
 
The standard springs should have colour codes: rear are brown/green or orange/orange. Front do seem to be handed and different for petrol and diesel. (whole rainbow of colours there!).
RAVE lists weights for diesel as:

UNLADEN F 1040 R 1015 Total 2055
MAX F 1200 R 1650 Total 2720
all in kgs.
So unladen there`s a little more weight on front, but more on rear when fully laden.
But no, sorry none of this answers your original question about lifted springs; but aren`t there any markings on`em? coloured paint bands etc?
 
as said earlier taller springs fit at back as front axle spring plate sits at an angle so to keep truck level shorter springs are fitted to front,if you lift many trucks as i have you will find that the front is a fair bit heavier than rear ,but you can carry considerable weight in the back ,we used to carry a 1 ton of potatoes regulary in a series 3
 
Taller springs at back, front is heaver unladen but the rear is designed to take the weight when needed. ... stick a 2.5 tonne trailer on and you will see what I mean. They always seem to look odd though as the arse sticks up in the air a little, I've heard of some ppl putting a 2" on the rear and 3" on the front to counter this but mine I left alone. What did you get with you lift kit?
