Started off with loads of agro with my diifs, and also decided to fit my new engine while I've got it off the road,
Can anyone shed some light on this for me first of all ?? Got a 90 defender with 10spline axles.
My rear diff blew last week and I had to pull a half shaft out and remove my rear propshaft and put it in diff lock to get me home.
I've bought a new diff and put it in last night and when I tried to reverse it off the ramp it went tight and the front wheels was still turning the right way, but the rear wheels were skidding on the gravel and turning forwards. Now it only does this when its in diff lock, if I take it out of diff lock I was able to move it, I didn't take it out on the road and try it though as something is obviously wrong somewhere.
Are the front & rear diff the same ? Can they be interchanged? Front in the back and back in the front ??
That's all I can think about at this moment in time is the they spin in the opposit direction.
Or do I have a transfer box issue through driving it home in diff lock ?? This has happened before where I had to remove the rear prop and a halfshaft Coz my diff blew, but last time I didn't have any issues, it was just the case of putting the new rear diff in and it was fine.
I've just got it in my head that I may have been sold a front diff and this is my problem.
Any help / input would be great !
