The cruise control on my range rover has stopped working, it did work fine before, the light comes on the dash switch ok, but the botton on the wheel does nothing, the horn etc works ok.

I heard there is a fix for this but for the life of me cant find anything on the diesel engine only petrol.

id check the pipes 1st

Mine's broken too. I've changed the two pipes on the vacuum jobbie at the back of the EAS box, but it didn't help. I can't work out where the other end of the really long one is as it seems to disappear into the bulkhead. Anyone know?

Is there anything else that can be checked while not driving along?

Guy

people talk of these pipes, is there a link to where and how these pipes work, are they connected to the EAS?

I just downloaded and ran the RAVE cd and nothing on there about diesel version only petrol.

DESCRIPTION - DIESEL
Diesel vehicles utilise the electronic diesel control
(EDC) system for cruise control. As the EDC has
complete control of the fuelling system, the only
additional inputs required for cruise control are, driver
controls, vehicle speed, brake and clutch signals. The
individual components are as previously described by
V8 vehicles.

Most parts are same as Petrol

Check the rubber vacuum hoses for splits etc. The area around the cruise bellows especially at the plastic "T" piece is a favourite spot to start. The hose also runs along the bulkhead and into the cabin to a combination brake light switch mounted in the drivers footwell, just above the brake pedal. If the hose is ok, there is a comprehensive step by step troubleshooting procedure in the Electrical section of RAVE. You will need a multimeter to measure voltages.

The vac unit is the box under the actuator and the actuator is at the back nearside of the engine bay.

I think i'm being stupid but there is no VAC unit in the passenger side of the engine, I have had a look on the rave CD to see what it looks like and there is nothing in my engine bay that resembles that. I can take pictures of the bay if that helps

I've never seen the diesel engine bay, but I'm assuming it can be that different.

If you can, follow the skinny pipes that come out the bottom. Should take you to the VAC unit.

OK....if you can find your throttle, are there 1 or 2 cables?

The cruise control should be connected to your throttle along with the accelerator cable. Should be able to trace it back to whatever runs your CC.

Bear in mind, I could be way off and I am only trying to help :)

I'm a moron. Apparently, the diesel model has no actuators, throttle or cables as everything is electrical.

Only thing I can suggest is you look at the converter, the fuses, relays, make sure your switches arent dodgy. Sorry dude.
