Hey all.
Thats it! Ive been beaten!!

Have had a few years of non starting etc and finally cracked it by adjusting the timing a few degrees..
Cut a very long story short thats no fault of my own, the car now has multi problems incl possible Head Gasket, No drive from Gearbox, Rattling, Heavy smoke and iratic tickover.

The car has done 220k miles and so im kinda considering throwing a second hand engine and g/box in her..

Has anyone done it? Any tips? Can it all come out through the front fitted together?
The cars worth around £1000 i suppose (N reg) but theres a few "good" engine and gearboxes around for £400 so am tempted..
May be an easier call than trying to repair what problems i have.

Im handy with a spanner, and will be using Forklift or overhead crane to take it out.. Just wondered if its a simple as rad and slam panel out and it all comes out?

Anyone any experience?

Many Thanks

Tel

Not done it, but it's ready to do on my scrapper, it would be a very heavy lump in one piece and the box would need to drop a bit at the rear.
My 1.5 tonne digger doesn't want to lift it:eek:

Hey fella!

Lol really!!! Ouch!!
I run a Steel works so have the benefit of a few different size forklifts and some bit 10T overhead cranes. It's getting the car up high enough for the back end of the box to clear I'm worried about.
I'm sure it will fit through the front. Just at what angle!
To be honest, if it comes in and out as one piece I'll go for it. If it's 2 separate jobs, it starts becoming involved and a pain.

I'd remove the transfer box if you have the possibility to get at it.
