having a job removing the crankshaft pully bolt from my 19j engine to replace the cam belt before i put it on the road bought a 41mm socket and struggling to release the blot read somewhere to put a breaker bar under the chassis rail and put landy into low ratio 1st gear remove lead from stop solinoid and crank the engine off the key and wondered if anyone else has done it this way and seems drastic arent i running a risk of chipping teeth on my starter motor? any advise really welcome

a lot have but you need to be careful bar is held tight before you try it will want to swing clock wise as you look from the front, a loose bar can cause damage to vehicle or someone if near

is there any alternative i should be trying before trying that have tried difflock engaged low ratio and 1st gear handbrake applied and just turning it with a extension on t-bar but just over powerd hand brake each time also tried impacting the socket while turning it did try a windy gun but its only a small compressor so runs out of puff rapidly

you can improve your windy gun if you use empty gas cylinder or similar as extra reservoir for compressor also doubles up as portable air for jobs away from compressor ,just fit a y peice to bottle and fit in line

thanks for the help its a 41mm bolt in the bottom pully do these anti rotation tools still fit and allow room for the socket to fit and achive full purchase?

put the vehicle i the highest gear itll go in high ratio lock the handbrake and use a 3 foot breaker bar on the nut this is also one of the cases id put a 6 foot scaff bar on the whatever the socket is on for extra leverage

yes socket goes thru middle the tool gets bolted to pulley ( 1st take the 4 10mm bolts out of pulley then fit tool with the correct tool bolts lock it up against the chassi or steering box) then put socket thru and undo make sure you have a good 1/2 inch or 3/4 sockect and breaker bar as it will snap a cheap quality bar

thanks great looks like it will be a pay day job now then its worked out to be a dear do to change a cam belt just for peice of mind not knowing if or when it might have been changed but still cheaper than a engine swap worst case and better the devil ya know thanks again for all the help very appreciated
