Hi all,
I've recently purchased a low mileage, manual, V8 Disco. The drive train seems a bit "snatchy" compared to my old Disco 200tdi. The V8 I have does not have the doughnut whereas earlier and later D2 models do. Anyone know why was this omitted? Can I swap out existing prop and diff flange for prop with doughnut to hopefully reduce the transmission snatch?

Do you know its history before you got it??? You can get a conversion kit to do away with the doughnut and having a 4 bolt flange in its place. I know Paddock do em
see linky below

The transmission 'snatch' could be either from wear in the transfer box input /output shaft and or the diff (as I am finding out on mine. Just ordered a transfer box refurb kit from Ashcrofts & may need to either adjust or refurb the rear diff as theres quite a bit of play in it

changing my transfer box and gear box currently due to a lot of play in the drive. snatch isn't a strong enough word for the issue i had, hoping to be done with it tomorrow and report all sorted but time will tell. anyways if you check out my post's find one of my vids and then go check my youtube channel and look at the videos with transfer box and clunk in the title will give you a little incite into what to look at and maybe it will help. i hope for your sake its not as bad as mine was.

good luck with it though let us know how it go's/is going

Hi,
Don't know all history apart from genuine 54000 miles and had Prinz LPG installed about 5 years ago. There is a definite intermittent clunk noise on freewheel from about 20mph which seems to cycle. No noise at higher speeds or on power. I'll have to whip off props and check for play in diffs, flanges and UJ's. I want to use an almost new wide angle front prop off my old 200tdi, but there's not much room past the cat. The gap should widen when I fit the 4" lift. Also have Ashcroft locker to fit in rear and camber correction arms etc.
