Hi All
On a recent journey 600miles towing my caravan I used upto 8 litres of oil
can anybody tell me what as gone wrong and does my car have an EGR valve and if so where is it also I have changed all 8 plugs and only No 8 had any oil of significance all the rest had none I would welcome any advice or help sim1cats

any oil coming from the exhaust?

any oil splatter in the engine bay?

is your sump plug or sumpgasket leaking.

how is your coolent?

Just under two gallons of oil lost, if that was so it would be all over the back of the disco and on the caravan, if you was burning it you would be able to see your caravan due to the smoke but then the engine only holds 6 litres :)

well I am loosing the oil somewhere and I cannot say where from, no oil on caravan, no thick smoke coming out of the exhaust, but there seems to be fresh oil on the front of the sump could the oil be coming out there under pressure I will have a look at the weekend and make sure all the bolts are tight and make sure the breather pipe is not blocked but any other suggestions welcome

does it run on gas?
i have a customers car i have just stripped the engine down to find it has failed valve stem seals

Remember its a British car if aint loosin fluids, IT AINT GOT ANY!
You may find front or rear crank seal doggy
I tightend up my sump pan bolts only made it worse pulled of the sump cleaned up mating sufaces and reseal with the blue silicone gasket. But two Gal wow!

Hi
I have found the oil leak as I said before the front of the sump was damp with oil cleaned it up yesterday no oil leaks overnight took it for a 40 mile run this morning and there was oil on the front of the sump it only seems to leak under pressure could it be a block crankcase breather hose that is causing the problems:)

it should be obvious at oil filler if it is pressurising a lot, it is of course possible the block to sump could not be sealing and the oil sloshing around while driving.

Hi
I have just checked both crankcase breather pipes and the left bank as you look at the car from the front had a plastic pin shaped like a drawing pin 12mm long, pin head diameter is 11mm could not even blow through the pipe why would this have been put there any fundamental reasons:confused:

Sorry for possible stupid question but why would it be obvious at the oil filler if it is pressurising?
I have excessive oil burning apparently and trying to work out whats wrong.

does it matter? it was 2 years ago lol

why do we keep getting these thread resurrections?

It matters because I have an issue with mine so saves another thread being started?
I don't expect the OP to answer but its a general question and plenty of experts about who could answer.
