my range rover classic hunts and stall as though the choke is on when ticking over even with choke lever in off position. it is an auto and has a homemade snorkel fitted. i dont know if it is a broken choke cable although all seems fine there, or if it could be the air intake or something else. the poor old girl has some bodge exhaust going into a cone to make it uncomfortably loud so maybe something to do with that? i only got her on last sunday so that is next on the list having made her safely driveable with new tyres. i will be investigating the issue tomorrow but any ideas would be gratefully recieved. thankyou:confused:

I like to think I've a fairly open mind,so I don't like to say never - but I've never seen a 1994 3.9 EFI with a choke control.
Maybe doing some reading of the appropriate workshop manuals might help....

No choke on the EFi models....

Check your idle control valve on tbe side of the plenum, this acts like a choke....it is also called the stepper motor....

Check all pipes to the plenum and intake manifold for security and splits...

See if the intake ducting is split and the plenum is secured in place!
