12 Multi-Tone Beeps on Removal of Ignition Key

My '98 Discovery 300tdi ES Auto Beeps when I remove the ignition key. Not the beep you get when you leave the lights on but 3 batches of 4 beeps in rapid succession. High-Low, High Low (short pause) High-Low, High Low (short pause) High-Low, High Low.

All my electrics appear to be working (strange in itself) - about the only thing not working is the Cruise Control but I haven't had time to look at the tubes etc. as per other posts.

The beeping doesn't bother me but it would be nice to know what it is trying to tell me.

The only thing I can think of is the radio, reminding you that the 'removeable' front panel is still attached?? Maybe?

Now that makes sense! :doh:

I'll check it out in the morning. It would make sense that no-one else has had the issue seeing as I have a non-std face off radio.

Yup - Sony and it was the stereo. Thanks for all your help. How silly do I feel!!!!!!
