I would have loved to have seen the look on that mot inspector’s face with a bodge like that treev150. I think slob’s idea is less obvious but knowing my luck the car would catch fire...

is this limited to cars and the like. cos i once fixed a steam piledriver with a bit or rubber mat.. the ASM wasn't none too pleased as i nicked it from his office. and while i remember i fixed an AEC clutch cylinder with a piece of the same mat. no **** thought it would work but it did, and it wur still working 18months later

yes treev150 the best bodges are the ones that turn into perminent repairs, repaired my swivel seals on my tdi200 disco with a quick bodge of cuting 2 new seals with a hack saw cutting off the old seals with a angle grinder and bending the new seals into place bolting them up and glueing the top of the cut new seals with super glue. shocked the mot inspector who failed it an hour earlier who told me it was a 4 hour per side job and they never leaked for the 3 years I owed the vehicle. wiped the smile off that money grabbers face though...
