Hi

1999 3.9 V8 and im returning 10-11 mpg after checking every sensor and setting!

HOWEVER:-

I live in the Stranja Mountains in Bulgaria and every day is a winding clime up and down 500m - 1000m of hills. At this time of year its lights on, heater on, wipers on, snow, floods etc - you get the picture.

Whilst im disappointed with 10mpg im prepared to accept that this may simply be cosumption returned under these circumstances - can anyone advise before i go and pay Land Rover to do a full investigation??

The altitude will effect the fuel / air mix, don't know what to do about it tho...

someone with more knowledge than I should be along...

1000m won't make much difference unless your way up above sea level to start with...........the V8 will drink it up if your working it hard but I dare say.....

Hi

No differance when hot and it is a manual not auto. I was expecting circa 15mpg, not a lot of mpg differance but 33%!! Landrover in bulgaria are not to be trusted ive been warned!?!??!!?! So im not keen to take it in unless i really have to..............

Just had oil change, Oil Filter, new plugs, ht leads - wailting for an air filter but current one does not look bad.

Tyres 235 Michelin road tires (at correct psi) - summer, about to get changed for the Dunlop Winter tires (also road) but not yet in propper sub zero temperatures.

Max altitude above sea level 1000m.

Petrol can be very crappy here but i only run OMV 100 Octain.

Ive backed the voltage off on the MAF sensor to 1.45v as it was running a bit rich - is this an acceptable setting?? One source says 1.3v and one 1.7v???

Get a diesel

Who buys a V8 4x4 and complains about fuel economy?

Ill tell you who - people who's mates have got them and get 15 - 20 mpg and they get 10 mpg!

Oh and people who live in Bulgaria and have a choice of a) 4 x 4 's previously owned by Bulgarians (ie totally wrecked) or b) freshly imported ones. This gives me a choice of 4x4's approaching one 500th of you guys in the UK - and we have to pay 3 x the price!!!
