From picking up my 98 freelander on Mon, just done a few jobs, tonights consisted of removing the fuel pump/sender unit as fuel gauge would only read max 1/2 tank.
Hope fully the below will help someone with a fuel sender problem which may be an easy fix.
this was my first thread so if i have dont out wrong let me know.

Hope fully the below will help someone with a fuel sender problem which may be an easy fix.
- First of all no forms of ignition / remove battery leads / no smoking!
- lift rear seats and unscrew large carpet screws
- lift carpet to reveal cover plate in floor
- remove all the x-head screws and remove plate
- at this stage i used an airline to blow/clean all the area around the top of the fuel pump assembly
- remove the electrical plug and fuel supply pipe.
- unscrew the large black ring from around the top of the assembly
- you will now be able to lift the pump assem from the tank (do this slowly as fuel will drain from the pump as you lift the unit)
- i then removed the float arm with a pair of long nose pliers and then carfully removed the contact connection arm(do this very carfully)
- i cleaned the connectors on this arm with wire wool and slightly bent the spring arm to increase the pressure on the connectors, also gently cleaned the connections on the sender body with wire wool.
- reassemble in revearse order making sure pump seal in secure when replaceing the pump.
this was my first thread so if i have dont out wrong let me know.
cheers
