1.8 Petrol Freelander 55 Plate

Hi everyone

Im thinking buying the above 59k miles, but heard a few horror stories regarding petrol Freelander's. Hrar good too!!

Well, just google 1.8 k series engine. You will get approx 90 million bits of advice about head gaskets et al...

head gasket problems !! could be lucky and have no problems but the l series and the td4 are the more reliable engines to go for but with the td4 you will pay more for it

Its a petro cheap as chips and are pieces of **** bad motor, go diesel

if i get a warranty with it though i should be covered?

safer with the td4 , you could have it more in garage being fixed than on the road

Well I bought a 2000 1.8 freelander a while back with head gasket gone vry cheap . Didn't mind as I was out of work and seen it as a project , have done as much mods as I could . Have not got it on the road as yet as tax is out but when I do will prob be too paraniod about coolant levels . Prob move it on after a week or two as won't be practical as wife due in feb and already have 4 kids so it's 7 seater for us :-(

How cheap is it?

free would still be too expensive

Snow forcast for next month might be good selling point I think or save my other car from harm

well if you can believe the weather men they saying we due snow in october

I love then K series engine.


Its just putting a K series engine in a 4x4 is more fail than a failer in failtown!
