I am interested to know what mods you would put on a standard 06 Defender TD5, it's a station wagon so already has 4 back seats. It is for daily use so don't want a lift kit or different wheels. I would like it to look good but also want practicality. It will be doing a bit of light off roading but nothing too heavy.

Thanks.

use it and see what you feel like your missing/whats gonna come in handy.

There's no right or wrong answer its just research, see what others have done then decide what you need and want use your imagination or your wallet!

Biggest help if your gonna take it off the tarmac is tyres - by the sounds of your use I'd get some decent A/T's first!

If it's your daily drive a remap and EGR blank would be the first thing I'd go for, it'll make the car more driveable and not so heavy on fuel. The rest is really up to yourself, there is so much stuff out there to add on it all depands on what your are using it for.

Best thing would be use it for a while and then see if there's anything you think is missing or make things easier.

Something like 245 or 235 ats would be sufficient. No changes needed ref lift etc.

A steering guard with tow points on the front would be a good investment too.

Like chunky says... 235 or 245 would do the trick, I'd look at slight higher side walls so you got some more clearance on your diffs maybe a 85 sidewall? Do a search on tyre sizes to see what you can fit in the defender wheel arches and go from there.

Diff guards and recovery points would be my first investment personally.

I am sold on diff guard with recovery points and the tyres I will do when they need changed, I was also thinking light bar with lights and possibly Safari snorkel, any opinions on these items?
I will look into remap and egr blank, what are the benefits and costs associated with this?
Thanks loving the forum.

+ Steering guard as Chunky said.

I'd then think about
- rock sliders
- snorkel & breathers
- cb

EGR is about £40. Better drivabillity, not so heavy on fuel.

Re-Map £300 - £500 depending on what and where you go/get
Same as above really, maybe a BHP/Torque increase.

Decat and centre box removal exhaust pipes and EGR blank make a massive difference in driveability and you get a couple more miles per gallon too and for about 2 to £300 they are well worth it. They will even pay for themselves within 2 to 3 years

Where do u get a diff guard with recovery points?

as others have said if its your daily drive egr blank set of 235/85/16 or 265/75/16 (practically same rolling radius) on some good ats namely BFG with some under body protection diff gards steering gard and you cant go far wrong then its ready to be added to and tweaked as you go
