I'd like to put in a word for the humble return-to-centre steering damper (the sort with the big spring round the outside). The handling feels much nicer, and it's easier to get straight again once you've completed a manoeuvre. Parking becomes a pleasure.

I find parking easy. Just dump it in the verge. :)

Thanks for all the advice, I have taken it on board and intend to do very little apart from the under body gaurds to start with and take it from there.

Unless you're off-roading at night the light bar is just bling, the snorkel similar if it's only 'a little light off-roading'!

Personally, Tyres as said, BFG AT's or even MT KM2's, quality wrap-round diff guards, quality steering guard, tank guard, removable tow-hitch and receiver socket with swappable drop-plate and shackle receiver point if you do any towing.

Then drive it a lot, see what you actually use it for ..

Then diff lockers, bigger tyres, bigger suspension, stronger geartrain bits, decent tuning, roll-cage .... er ... you know ... ;)

Sounds like a lot of what you want doing I've done to mine...

I went to collect the car as it was a new purchase and all was not as it first appeared and it was far from the "quality bit of kit" it claimed to be in the advert on line so did a sharp u turn and the hunt continued.
I have now found another one that I like online and have paid a deposit and go to view and all being well collect and drive home next Saturday. This one is a 110 station wagon and I am hoping it is all it claims to be as it looks good. This one is from a dealer and comes with a warranty so fingers crossed will be the one for me. I have blown the budget a bit on this one so no longer have the 2k for mods but should manage a steering guard and diff guard and a few other bits. I will post some pics next week if this one makes it home.

Don't be fooled by the warranty!!
Have a good look over it and check all doors for rust!!
Doors are NOT cheap.
Also check chassis has been looked after (waxoiled)
And bulkhead around foot wells and door hinge area

Thanks for all of the advice, I cannot wait to go and see it on Saturday, I fly down Friday night then all being well start the long drive home on Saturday morning.

I am sold on diff guard with recovery points and the tyres I will do when they need changed, I was also thinking light bar with lights and possibly Safari snorkel, any opinions on these items?
I will look into remap and egr blank, what are the benefits and costs associated with this?
Thanks loving the forum.

egr costs peanuts, remap around £300, id do remap 1st got it on my td5 and makes big difference. Sound deadening also makes it more usable, after that the worlds your lobster on extras.
