Full beam not working until cars run for 10 mins

Hi all,

As above, 300tdi disco. Don’t have any other electrical faults. I suspect battery isn’t the best after it was stood lots in winter.
Would a sluggish battery cause this? I.e. full beam won’t run until alternator has topped up the battery?

No. So unless there is a timer unit somewhere set at 10 minutes then I would suspect an iffy light switch or intermittent wiring connection.

Prolly a panel that heats up and then the earth touches and makes the circuit again ...

Usual Landy thing, check, clean and re-secure the earths ...

Pink relay ? No such thing fitted to a D1 and the only item that dips the headlights with the side lights on is the lighting switch.

With D1s dim-dip feature, when the side lamps are switch on the headlight dip beam is then on but in a dim mode, when the lighting switch is turned to main beam the dim-function is extinguished.
Of course dim-only system only functions with the engine running, but I expect that the dim-dip system has been isolated by most D1 owners by now.

Yes, a resistor which is mounted at the rear of engine bay, just unplug it to remove the dim-dip function.

I’m sure defenders got this also. Don’t ask me where the one is for my resto. It’s in a really safe place that even I’m not allowed to know
