Well i have to say that the run to N Wales and back again over the weekend, was to say the least, fantastic.

It is unbelievable how much different the Td5 is to the 300 Tdi forerunner.

I have perchaste a Td5 se 2.5 auto in Oslo Blue 02 plate 83000 on the clock.

The auto, coupled with leather seats and cruise is an extremely smooth relaxing comfortable drive.

Leccy seats put you in any postion wished for,ACE gives a superb feeling of stability.

18 inch alloys add to the solid feel. The sensation is of running on rails, consistently level.

There is an abundance of soundproofing, all that can be heard is a muffled roar from the beemer 5.

If any body is toying with the idea of one then go for it.
You definitely will not be dissapointed.

My 18 year old 200tdi disco is noisy, fairly slow and the seats have sagged to buggery. The knackered springs and shocks lead to a bouncy ride coupled with enormous amounts of body roll making cornering an interesting experience. It's dirty, smelly and not at all nice to look at but I love it. Best 500 quid I ever spent. I'd reccomend it to anyone:D

Just think of the repair bills when the time comes:eek: Ah'll be happy stickin' with me auld bus with leather seats and no need to change gears (much) on the motorway. Soundproofin' ain't an issue, just roll down yer window and ye can't hear the noise of the engine;) And mines runs just fine on veggie oil without any probs;) :D :D

Veggielandie,
I hope I am not shot down but it is not a beemer 5 under your big bonnet there but a land rover td5 engine. the 2.5 in the range rover was a bmw sourced unit but the engine in the disco is a different unit altogether.

Hope that someone with a little more detail will back this up

Yes Dave you're right, it is an LR unit.

And to VeggieLandie - so you like it then??;) ;)

Cheers
Dave

There's been a lot of doubt expressed about running this engine, with its high pressure injection system, on pure veggie oil (as opposed to bio-diesel). I wouldn't put it in mine, and CharlesY was pretty unhappy about it too. So let us of little faith know how you get on!
Mine is absolutely fine on 50% recycled bio, when I can gt it!

When i said beemer engine i was referring to how smooth it was:mad:
I would,nt put veggie in it.
I certainly will not put bio in it.
My mileage per week has gone from 600 to 60 so no more desperation.:)
I am now 99% home based running my business.

Sorry. Must learnto read proper:eek: . I see the others cottoned on quicker than I did.
Seriously tho, i've had no problems with 50% bio on a long run, topping up with normal diesel at the end to bring it down to 25% overnight. It's all got bio in it now anyway...:)
