Hi all,

Test driving a L405 4.4 autobiography at the weekend. It’s a 2013 with 136k on it. Asking price of £24k. Considering this was over £100k new seems like a nice deal. Anything I should be aware of? Is this a terrible idea? I’m happy with running and maintenance costs. Supposedly has a full service history but I will find out for sure at the weekend.

I don't know the first thing about these cars, but a higher than usual mileage car can either be run into the ground or meticulously maintained because the owner relies on it.
I'd tend to think the latter on a high value car.
Check everything does what is supposed to and find out what's not been replaced yet

Good advice. Full service history is essential to me at the very least. Looking forward to learning more about the vehicles past

Who has done the servicing? Main dealers aren't always the best in my experience
That will be my first question when I go to see it. Even if it turns out to be a bust this is the first one I’m test driving so will be a trial of if I’ll even like it

I'd ask where they got it from. I bet it was the auctions. Ask what inspection they did or who looked over it. These cars are not understood by a lot of garages unless they're specialized or dealers. Get an extended warranty and if they won't offer one look elsewhere.
As beautiful as it is I wouldn't own one and I fix cars all day long. As said you don't sell a good car. ;)

Plus don’t know if it’s just me but number plate doesn’t come up on mot history checker , tried a few web sites

must admit would also feel very nervous owning one

I imagine u see it all the time where people buy them and try and run them on a shoe string budget

Honestly, I stop at the P38' G', I recently worked on a disco 4 3.0sdv6
Water pump had sheared its bolts and we had to strip the cars front off to get the bolts drilled and tapped... That put me right off... The three tiny bolts that hold that big pump and pulley along with a two meter plus belt and under all that strain had been over tightened at some point... It took out the fan, the crank pulley and its own pulley... The price was enormous..... Over 2000€ parts and labour... Ef to that!! :(
