I need to collect a generator, it's a pretty big diesel 5kw jobbie. I think it weighs around 150kg, so assume 200kg max. Bit scared of damaging my D2. If I put thick ply on floor of boot that will protect from the cosmetic damage of the wheels digging down into the floor. But I don't have a clue what sort of weight is 'fair' to put in the boot for my beloved disco! Can anybody comment on what sort of loads are bearable in the boot? Don't wanna block out my air bags or do any other damage, probably worrying needlessly but that's me :D
Thanks

31 stone only the same as having 2 or 3 people in the back

It will carry 1 cubic metre of hardwood. So you won't have a problem.
Also loads of bags of compost, or boxes of wine. You'd be pushed to fill it with too much weight unless you put lead weights or gold bars in!
We put a 150 kg genny into a disco 1 no problem!
Have fun!
:):):)

Thanks very much everyone. yep I have a solid board and a steel plate too. Should be good to go. thanks again

Ha, superb! I never even thought about levelling. Do'nt even know how to do it. And also don't know how to use the high/low/difflock stick - I really need to sit down and read the manual some time, if i had one :D

Just worked out the MPG. FFS!
I fitted a new MAF a week ago, drives much better now. It was remapped by DynaChip. 350 mile journey averaged 23.35 MPG. Feckin shocking. It's a manual too. When I first bought it a year ago I got 32mpg on the 300 mile trip home. Any tips would be welcome on where to start with sussing out why it's got so bad on fuel! (And this was the average without the generator in the boot!)
