Fix the things you can see are wrong first. 3 rotten glows could stop it starting. Needs at least 3 firing cylinders in a row if I recall Wammers correctly.

Engine swap not an issue as long as engine ECU not swapped - that's where the security code is stored.

The code can easily be re written to the BECM is the EDC is changed.

A really thick question, if I do a leak back test, each injector has 2 nipples. Do i need to blank one nipple and other with tube into the pot?

Thanks

You do need to block one nipple on each injector. The test will reveal the return from each injector. If you do all the injector s at the same time you can instantly compare results, if not all at the same time. Then do each individually and noting the level/amount of diesel pushed out. But! The engine does need to be running... The glow plugs can be bench tested or even in the engine by means of resistance using a DVM, Digi voltmeter.
They should all be the same. 00.9ohms for and example. May not apply to this model of plug. But they should all be the same if in top condition.
Red prong to glow plug top and a good earth on the engine.
Don't get into throwing money before you can confirm that certain parts are good or suspect!!

Hi Mark, I re-tested the glow plugs last night on bench as tested them in the car before and in fact 4 of them are duff, other 2 not too far behind so ordered a new set and crank sensor. Will replace these first see if we can get it running and go from there. Many thanks.

That is a good reason for the engine not to start for sure. Pity you didn't think about doing that on September the 8th. :D:D

I hope you ordered good quality glow plugs, Beru or NGK for example, cheapo ones don't work for long if at all.

Ha ha lmao but yea should have he he. Still got idling and running issue but will change these and crank sensor hopefully it will start. Thumbs up.

Cool. Parts have turned up just waiting for crank sensor now prob have a crack on Monday as I am off from work.

Sorry what is best advice for removing the CPS without disturbing the bracket please?

Cant access previous comments for some reason.

Thanks.

Unscrewing the 6mm bolt that holds it on the bracket maybe good.

Evening all, fitted new glow plugs, crank sensor and injector number 4. Car struggled to start eventually came to life but was running very badly revving up and down between 1000 to 1500 rpm chucking out greyish smoke.

Any thoughts please?

Greyish smoke may simply condensation and accumulated fuel in the exhaust. As for the hunting up and down, I don't know, any faults on diagnostics?

Not got nanacom or diagnostics will see if anyone local has one not fair to keep asking OvaLandRover to drive up.
