Hi i just bought a FL2approved vehicle and i just wondered what peoples thoughts are on the approved warranty.Is it worth the paper its written on ? or do they acctually repair your vehicle if its faulty ??
 
I always look for what are the exceptions that are listed in the warranty.

Also, what hoops do you have to jump through to make sure it stays in place .

Yes they will look to fix oil leaks anorl. There's no guarantee of fixes. Yer have to take it to an approved main dealer for them to assess. If it's a known issue with a known fix covered by the warranty then they will fix it. If it's outside of this then they apply to LR to get them to confirm they will pay for the fix.

If it's LR main dealer via the approved scheme then it will have been checked all over so yer would hope they would have spotted the leak while doing that.

How did he guess there was a leak in the post above?

Do you know where the leak is coming from? It's free to call a main dealer and talk to them about booking it in for inspection. Yer could pop round in the week and talk to customer service and they may have a quick look or book it in for a look. You should have a copy of the PDI pre dispatch inspection. Does that show there was a leak witnessed before yer bought it? Some garages may only fix this sort of thing when the owner brings it back rather than paying themselves when they had it for sale.

After seeing the other fred... The LR warranty on an approved LR vehicle bought via the approved scheme... can be repaired or taken to any approved LR main dealer for inspection/repair. Yer don't have to go to the original seller if they're 150 miles away. Go to the nearest one and tell them it's just started leaking. If they find something in the records... tell them you were advised it was spilt oil after a service.

i onlt found out today when i checked the mot history of the vehicle.it failed the test on the 28th of november before i got the car from them and the oil leak was a advisory on fail sheet.then it was retested on the 30th of november and passed but the oil leak was still a advisory.but theres no advisory on the mot certificate they sent me.But its on record on the online search.I have no idea what is leaking or how bad or weather its been looked at before they released the vehicle to me

Have a look under it. Yer may not even need to lift it to see it. There's a metal cover under the engine which may be in the way. Undo the bolts to remove it. Leave it to sit for a while to get a drip mark ont floor to help guide you. Oil can jump about at speed and the cover will help hide it's location as it runs oft in a different area anorl.

Depending on age it may be the case it was bought by the main dealer while outside of the original warranty and any extended warranty. LR will put a warranty on it via the approved scheme but yer probably find they wouldn't be happy with the dealer if they took in a vehicle with a fault the owner at the time was responsible for and knocked a bit oft the price to fix it. This is just a guess but it does happen. They may not always get the same amount of money oft LR to do the fix if it's needed when it's on sale and opposed to what they would get when you return it. They may have forgotten to do it. They may think it's small and dun't need doing.

If it were my local main dealer then they have a habit of not telling yer it's leaking. If this fek's yer auto gearbox one would tend to be annoyed. I was. At least I was able to join the feked jatco club on ere.

yes whats bothering me as much as anything is "whats leaking and how serious is it".I need to know if they have investigated it or not it could be that the mechanic spilt some oil down there when doing the oil change or something silly like that but i need to know that its been looked into and if not why not.Another concern is why on the .GOV website does it state that it passed the MOT on the second attempt but still with the advisory of the oil leak on the certificate but the MOT certificate they sent me theres no advisory on it what so ever.When ever i have put a car through the mot even if it passes but theres an advisory it is stated on the certificate ????
 
First you need to find out what is leaking.
It's very obvious if it's spilled oil at a service, as spilled fresh oil doesn't flow the same as oil that has dripped out of a hot engine. Hot oil from an engine seal has had the crap beaten out of it. This reduces the surface tension and so it creaps slowly over whatever it touches on its way to the ground. Fresh spilled oil has lots of surface tension and so just runs off whatever is in the way on its way to the ground. Also oil that has been building up slowly from a leak will have dust and road debris in it. Fresh spilled oil will have little or no debris. The MOT tester will or should be able too tell the difference between a leak and a spill and mark the advisories accordingly.

it was marked on the test sheet as a suspected oil leak.Also the question is should it have been up to the dealership that sold me the car to investigate it before they released it.And why is it not mentioned on the mot certificate they sent me ???
 
i don,t think it should be my job to start rolling around under the car trying to solve a problem that was there when it was in the dealerships hands.
