The links that I posted were purely for illustration.
My Starrett is a 0-1" plunger, and the other is a 0-1/2" finger, although I only have a single mag base, I have a number of arm extensions which will give me reach.
For BB, feelers are OK as long as you take into account the wear on the rockers, which becomes a very slight indentation. The DTI removes that

I do not know, But apparently at least one person is an advocate of using a DTI to set them..........

Feeler gauges have worked well for a long time.

Do you have a picture of the 0-1/2" DTI, I have never seen one with that range of measurement.

Ok, does not show that it is has a measurement range of 1/2" inch.As it only states it measures 0.003".
EDIT: In fact looking at the picture the title states 0.003", the write up has written graduations of 0.005" and the photos shows grads of 0.0005". Not sure what to believe from that seller....

Look at my edit, it is not increments of 0.003" unless you mean rotations, but it stil does not show the full measurement range.

EDIT: All I asked for was a photo of a DTI, not a DI that shows it has a 0-1/2" measurement range, if you do not have one , then do not worry about it.

You use yer fikest feeler (tothers are all creased anyway) to slice a bit off yer fooking rizla packet.

So could you explain how these dial gauges are used or the procedure for checking said gap as I am at a loss as to how they could be used ..
Only way I see it working would be to screw the adjusted till touching valve top then zero gauge and then to back off adjuster until .20 mm is reading ..
Would that be a fair guess or am it totally wrong ..

No.
Take the appropriate feeler fickness. Set the tappers then push the spike in and out till ye run out of bothered. Its usually raining by then and the cover is half full of water.

I guess you could zero on the top of the adjuster with the rocker sat snug in the pushrod and then take a reading pressed on the top of the valve stem or visa versa but why would you when you can simply measure the length of time for a photon of light to travel the gap with a basic stopwatch and torch?

Using a dti does seem to be a bit of overkill considering the less than precise tolerances that landys are made with in the first place, it just needs a little gap. You could practically set them without a feeler or dti just by wiggling the rocker arm. I had to lightly rub my 10 thou feeler with emery paper to give it a clean.

All I was asking was , was for a photo of a Dial Test Indicator ( finger , as you call it) that had a measurement range of 0-1/2" ,as that is what you said you had. , But I guess I am daft for asking for it....
