Hi all need some advice please
Loosing coolant looks to be a bit coming from overflow pipe and looks to be coolant coming from somewhere low down in bay but can't find any split pipes, engine ain't over heating it never goes over middle of temp guage but I do smell a metal burning smell when I start off and then it disappears after about 5 mins, no coolant in the oil either, also the expansion tank never completely empties I don't know what's going on thinking of getting the uv die off ebay to see where its coming from :rolleyes:o_O

Water pump tell tale, google it as it is not in the normal water pump tell tale location like you would expect.

I just had to do this, i.e. replace the pump and the leak could be seen but only indirectly until I really fiddled around with a powerful torch.
The telltale hole being directly under the pump where it leaks into and behind a support structure. It's easier to look into the support where it'll be leaking out.

Tbh I only learnt that some time last year off someone on here.

The core plug under the exhaust is a common place, mine tended to leak when cold but it sealed up and held pressure when hot

Before I could change the pump, as I was in France, I put stuff in to stop or at least slow the leak down. It worked well enough to enable me to tow the wife's car all the way back from South west France to our place in Dorset. I had to order the pump for dleivery to a neighbour as we would only be back here for a few days. So it got delivered and I changed it. Longwinded but nothing too complex.
Bleeding the bleeding cooling system was worse! It isn't in the manual that you have to rev it up when bleeding to get a valve to open. Thankfully once that was done it cleared! But the level didn't stabilise until we were back in France!
so best of luck with it if you have to do it!;)
