How long you had it, is it the 2.2D, what wheels adorn this brute you ride?

You know, there's a guy on here who is mad on these, his name is Ant, all he talks about is Evoques this, Evoques that, it would be great to see him finally at the helm of one these future Classics.
You must get a lot of waves from Rangie drivers when your out and about, and in my kneck of the woods we've had 3 days of sunshine so you could have had yer top down.

Do you mean the chap who wrote this?
It depends on your view.....

It can be looked at in three ways.....

Design(Style), Design(Heritage) and Reason....

Design(Style):
A few of the styling cues that make Range Rover what it is:

*Clamsheel Bonnet - RRCL-Yes, P38-Yes, L322-Yes, L320-Yes, L405-Yes, Evoque-Just
*'Floating' Roof - RRCL-Yes, P38-Yes, L322-Yes, L320-Yes, L405-Yes, Evoque-Yes
*Castallated Bonnet - RRCL-Yes, P38-Yes, L322-Yes, L320-Yes, L405-Yes, Evoque-No
Split Tailgate - RRCL-Yes, P38-Yes, L322-Yes, L320-Yes, L405-Yes, Evoque-No
Sloped Rear bodywork behind rear wheels to increase Ramp Angles - RRCL-Yes, P38-Yes, L322-Yes, L320-Yes, L405-Yes, Evoque-No
Bluff Bow - RRCL-Yes, P38-Yes, L322-Yes, L320-Yes, L405-Yes, Evoque-No

* = Market Research carried out by Land Rover during P38 development showed that the public agreed these items as what are considered when thinking about 'Range Rover'

So in the sense of Styling, the Evoque is barely a Range Rover.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Design(Heritage):
Some may consider a true Range Rover with true Land Rover heritage should have the following (among many):

Ladder Chassis - RRCL-Yes, P38-Yes, L322-No, L320-No, L405-No, Evoque-No
Solid Axles - RRCL-Yes, P38-Yes, L322-No, L320-No, L405-No, Evoque-No
Soft Suspension - RRCL-Yes, P38-Yes, L322-Yes, L320-No, L405-Just, Evoque-No
Easy to manage switch gear - RRCL-Yes, P38-Yes, L322-Yes, L320-Yes, L405-Just, Evoque-No
Epic Off Road ability - RRCL-Yes, P38-Yes, L322-Yes, L320-Yes, L405-Yes, Evoque-Bless, it tries!!
A V8 engine option - RRCL-Yes, P38-Yes, L322-Yes, L320-Yes, L405-Yes, Evoque-No
Permanent 4 wheel drive - RRCL-Yes, P38-Yes, L322-Yes, L320-Yes, L405-Yes, Evoque-Depends on Model

So, from that above the P38 is the last of the Land Rover Heritage Range Rovers but the Evoque just doesn't even define itself as Range Rover.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And finally, Reason:
Range Rover was developed to be the Flagship of the Land Rover Marque, the pinnacle of what it can achieve. It was to be revered and respected as a vehicle. One that you would aspire to own.

A brand that shows the world that you have taste, style, passion and desire. You have made a conscious choice to drive the best of a marque that says a lot about you as a person, that you take life seriously, worked hard and now deserve the best of the best of the best - no second best option, but the pinnacle of a brand, a brand that befits your passion and dreams, one that wants to be the best, one that wants you to feel comfort and made to feel special.....a brand that makes you feel top of the world.....one that makes you relish spending £80-90k on a vehicle because it is worth it.....

The Evoque is not the flagship model....nor is it the pinnacle of what Land Rover can do. It doesn't say 'I am the best of the best, therefore my owner is the best of the best'.

The Evoque is just a second best alternative - and that is NOT the reason behind Range Rover.....

(Rant Over)

And also made this video too......??

Good looking chap that.....

Yes, all are welcome......

The Evoque has its place as a LAND ROVER, that is unquestioned.....but as a Range Rover, that's very much in question!

They are good cars, and will do well for Land Rover so good on them, but it isn't and never will be a Range Rover.

As I said in the post above the REASON behind Range Rover is to be the pinnacle, to be the flagship, to be the very best of what Land Rover can do.....so to create something that is, on purpose, cheaper and a second best alternative....goes against everything Range Rover is meant to be....and that for me is the defining argument.

Great cars, no doubt - a Range Rover, certainly not.
