Are there any differences in D1 200TDI and 300TDi front propshaft lengths. I replaced on of the front UJ's on my 300TDi, about 700 miles ago - the prop was "tight" to refit (and remove) and have had both UJ's go again.........

I think the prop is too long and on suspension compression, the prop is bottoming out and jarring the UJ's.
I recently replaced the prop with a V8 one, which is at least an inch shorter - makes a world of difference, but I cant see how the T-Box to front diff flange distance can shorten????
I do have a camber adjusted 2" lift, but that should increase the length required, if anything.

Any ideas, folks?

The front propshaft on our 300TDI auto is 623mm fitted and vehicle standing on level ground, with the sliding part out by 14mm. From the grease marks it looks as though the least amount the sliding part extends when the vehicle is moving is 6mm. In other words there is always at least 6mm exposed.

Thats weird .

I have measured the distance between the T-box flange and the Diff flange and it is 632mm.

The FRC8386 prop, i have, varies between 640mm & 720mm..... not surprising it doesnt fit .
