hi

just put on a set of cheap square spots and dont like them, just for some reason look horrible

fancy getting these , they seem ok and got a 30 /60 degree beam as i dont want a too wider beam

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Signstek-Li...bs_auto_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=0ER2ZP7DHY3FZDA0FWGQ

as always due to the endless amount online have never heard of the make

or should i go for cree lights or are they much the same

also as their led will be better for output and less draw on the battery , but i think maybe 27 watts per light would be more than suffice

thks again

With current LED technology, high power long range lighting is a way off yet. They may consume 27 Watts and therefore should be pretty bright, from what I've seen so far, the beam pattern doesn't generally have huge distance.
Sure fog lights in LED's are ok as the light doesn't diffuse before hitting an object. But spot lights are a different kettle of fish.
Why not just get some nice quality 55 Watt conventional spots. They still reign king of lighting. If you need more lighting, why not fit HID spots, these give enormous light output.

thks mate

ive currently got 4 x ring square lights, a pair of driving lights and a pair of fogs, all four have 55 watt bulbs

they just seem to sit forward to much and just dont look right

have been trawling through the net in order i can try and see how these leds compare etc in, range and angle of beam

will have a look at hid spots, the last pair of spots i had on my series were kcs and kicked myself for not taking them off, but it is what it is

also done a search to see all the different lights now available, as i see the cree bar lights as well

suppose im learning about all of this, thks again mate

4x 39W on the front roof, 2x27W on the front bumper, 2x 48w on the rear and 1x72w bar on each side. HIDs fitted in headlights plus fogs going on soon.

I had a cree led light bar 32" I think, fitted on the roof, and it is as some, long range isn't particulary great but everything around you is lit up, would thoughly reccomend one, I had a bit bother with water ingress which is why it was removed but this should hopefully have been sorted now I've been at it with sealant.

cheers guys

i see on the front u have two round led spots , i assume there is no difference in performance , beam etc between the round and square ones

may i ask what make etc they are please and how do u find them

would like some mainly for country lanes and often go to my daughters and brother in laws who live in the middle of knowhere, the current headlight ive got are useless ,

cost of leds etc seem to have come down alot over time and a pair of spots for around 50 quid seems the norm, but not sure about the endless range coming from china

are the cree lights one to go for plse,

thks again guys, just want to bide my time in making sure this time round i buy a decent set of lights

will be putting also some lights on the back , as when i dry my dogs off especially in the darker winter evenings will be nice to have something that wont drain the batteries quickly and the leds for the low consumption seem the way to go

Cree are just one brand. There are many others to choose from. All LED's suffer the same problem though. They aren't a single light source like a standard filament lamp or an HID. The higher the wattage the larger the chip, or more chips are added to create an array. This lack of a single light source makes the light diffuse quickly. All high brightness LED's have a lense to help focus the light but it still spreads out too quickly to be used at long ranges.
You said your standard lights are rubbish, have you fitted upgrade xenon bulbs? I always use Osram night Breakers. These are cheap and much brighter than standard halogen bulbs. I find the headlamps in my V6 more than good enough for our dark Cornish lanes.

The ones I have and supply are from china, but with a UK support base, unlike most of the fit and forget ebay stuff. Comes from a guy in Lancashire called Richard Blackman, runs active led lightbars. [email protected]

From him they will probably set you back maybe £27/£30 each depending on which ones you get. If you mention me and my vehicle im sure he will do you a good price. Ive spent hundreds of pounds with him on lighting and the service has been first rate.

Have a look for Cvl ( custom vehicle lighting) there a great company and sell just about all types of led light

They frequent the 4x4 show scene and are on Facebook too

Can't rate the company enough

You are joking? 27 watts of CREE LED light is roughly equivalent to 150watts plus of Tungsten, with the right reflectors the beam range is just incredible. There have been several posts in another sections with photo's of the road lit up like daylight, one guy even fabricated his own housings from alloy. I have LED torches with amazing beam range and no inclusions unlike Tungsten.

HID's are old tech, many cars now have LED headlights including Seat.

CREE is a particular patented LED technology

thks for the great information and found it extremely helpful

not a simple subject but am understanding it considerably more

thks also about the link

will indeed get some other bulbs for my existing ones for now as i certanally dont want to make a mistake again

my main gripe is the light output and they seem to sit forward too much , as i thought the fixing was directly underneath the lights , but will teach me in the future and suppose my last pair were kc lights and no i cant compare them to my current lights

found this , but of course understand its not a simple thing in comparisons between the different types of lights

LED Watt Conversion Table - Light Replacement Guide

i am heading towards leds though, due to there low drain on the battery, as i want to put a lightbar at the back, for my dogs and also can utilise it in the middle of knowhere for reversing

am far better informed and really do appreciate the great help

thks again guys and will of course come back with results and pics

pic of current lights
