2001 DHSE

Ok, so last year, I had a pre 2001 air con radiator retro fitted in to my 2001 DHSW (which had the hard to get tiny air con rad), all the pipes were swopped out. The air con worked ice cold (after a few sqeeks from the clutch under the bonnet!!, she had not been used for a few years).

So I activated it today, and although a tiny bit colder than the outside air, she is not cooling the cabin.

I pulled all the relays and fuses (which caused a book symbol), had to reset system with Hawkeye to get fans running a gain. Actually no other faults.

Other than checking that the gas hasn't leaked out!!!! Is there anything else I can easily check?????

Thank you, as always!!!

Have a problem with my air conditioning. Checked all the fuses and moved relays around, clutch on compressor will not engage. Am I right in thinking it might be out of gas or could it be something else more involved
Looking forward to hearing from someone please

When the aricon is on check that the fans at the front are working, other than that you'll need to get a leak test with uv dye.

mick

Ok, so with the Aircon on! The front two electric fans are NOT spinning, however I understood, it had to be damn hot to get those guys to work????????

How do I know if the clutch is engaging????

Fans rarely run on mine unless the weather is very hot and the car is idling, the fans also do the engine cooling on mine.

Lack of gas is most likely.

Probably gas but could be the compressor clutch. Better to always leave the aircon on, it's good for drying the interior and keeping the BECM dry and the aircon will be more reliable too.

Thanks Keith, can I check the clutch in any way??

Have you looked at it and checked if it is engaging? If you look at it the pulley is always spinning but the plate at the front will not be spinning if the clutch is disengaged. It should cycle on and off occasionally if it's working.

If it has a problem you should get the book symbol on your HEVAC and a fault of "compressor clutch control fault" or wtte.

Thanks, will try to see if it's spinning today.

That depends on year I think, no book symbol on mine if the compressor doesn't engage.

OK, so clutch looks to be spinning, definite revs change for a second as I pop the air con on and off also. No book symbol, but as stated above, I have a late model so wouldn't show one. I am guessing all the gas has leaked out! Will get it checked! My hawkeye shows no errors, but it's not clever enough, I am guessing to show something like low gas etc.
