Hi

Just after a little advice if possible. My wife took her evoque into a Land Rover dealers today for the steering rack recall.
Whilst there they did the hard sell on the summer service for the air con re-gas etc for £129.

She then received a call from them this afternoon telling her that the recall work had been carried out but when the technician started the air con work one of the pipes must have been over tightened in the past and had collapsed (there words not mine) and as such to fix it there would now be a cost of over £700!?!?

She obviously had a few choice words for the dealer who retreated to go and have a word with their manager!!

We’ve heard nothing since.

Just wondered if anyone had ever encountered such an issue and could offer any advice?

Thanks

To regas the aircon you have to remove two plastic caps, a larger version of a tyre valve cap, under the caps are a valve, also a bit like a tyre valve. You attach a quick release coupling, only way to mess it up is being ham-fisted.

Sounds like a stealer on the make.

It gets worse!! Company called back this morning stating They managed to fix it but they won’t now regas it because theirs a leak.

yeah, I bet there is!!!

Well, they haven't fixed it then!
At the end of the day they broke whatever they broke so its down to them, simple really.
Tell them you want a curtesy car while it's been fixed.
Check your insurance or AA as quite often free legal advice is included.

If it was working before then nothing was broken. If they manage to cause the connections to 'collapse' then they have done something wrong.
If they mean the pipework collapsed while attaching the connectors then it would have already been too weak to hold gas pressure.
They broke it, they fix it. Simple.
Ask to see photos of the damage before they 'fixed' it as proof.
I can't see a dealer 'fixing' an Aircon pipe or connector without replacing it, assuming it was broken in the first place.
Did they need to degas and remove pipework to do the recall work?
