Freelander 1 Winch bracket

Kieran, the winch bracket will fit your TD4 in its current configuration, it will be more exposed than on my facelift owing to different bumper shape, it was specifically designed for the Warrior Samurai 9500SD winch, if anyone else makes a Shortdrum winch that may also fit but can't guarantee it. As you can see from the pics the design works a treat, if you want one I have some left

Going by your reg thats either an L series Like Lukas has or a 1.8 petrol, the centre part of the bracket which is the winch tray will exit where your number plate is the two side mounting brackets in there current form will not fit, we are working on changing the design of the side brackets to fit your model and eventually all models in the Freelander 1 range. I guess you have looked at the pics of the bracket before it was installed. I have moved my number plate onto the roof rack but when I first installed the winch I made some "standoff" spacers & installed it in front of the fairlead, if you want a bracket just let me know

its a 2ltr diesel TDI don't know if that makes a difference,
if you can keep me in mind when you get the new designs done that would be brill

It looks great. What bumper did you use

The winch bracket was designed by me, up to now no one has been producing winch brackets for Freelander 1's, the bumper is a standard TD4 facelift one

Just done a bit of research, the bracket mounting holes are the same on the V6 (facelift & pre facelift) as they are on the TD4 just need a pic of a V6 with the bumper removed so I can check nothing interferes with the centre part of the bracket if anyone has a pic ?

I found solution for mine : i think that radiator is not needed. I will transport it on flatbed.

In versions with AC , condenser also extends rails, so bracket must be +50 not +30 as wrote you guys before

Just looking at those pics Lukas, I'm sure your "Chassis" rails finish further back than on the facelift, the aluminium bumper looks identical, if that is the case it means only the side mount design will be changed, thats why I designed it modular in the first place...

Or fit the pre-face life V6 bumper. It's the same internal dimensions as the face lift bumper.

Just did a test to see if the winch bracket could cope with recovering me from a deep hole, this is probably the worse situation for putting stress on the Freelander frame & the bracket itself. In a real situation its unlikely that a vertical pull would be needed but as the angle reduces to horizontal strain on the frame & bracket reduces,

No mate, no drama not so much as a creak lol

There was a squeak when I started the lift but that was my bum cheeks !!

I did check the nearside wheel bearing while it was on the rope, quite a bit of play so going to get it changed

A winch was the only thing they had over us hippo owners!!
