After the input bearing. Have gone on my rear locker I was thinking of pegging it whist it was in bits, Ashcroft sell a kit for £65

Now does the diff housing have to be tig welded or can u use mig?

I'm gessing spending £65 now with abit of work could save me a bigger bill in the long run.

Is there any where else to buy the bits? Any tips / tricks to help?

At the bottom of the pegging kit page on there website there is a Downloadable step by step guide on how to fit the pegging kit.
As for welding ashcroft use half TIG half ARC.

you can't peg a detroit locker, it works on a clutch

if you wanna peg ya diffs and play with the big boys your going to need ashcroft or arb lockers :p

not what ashcroft says . Was looking on there last night

You are just giving some support to the ring gear from flexing, does not affect the locker no matter what brand. Ashcroft was saying that locker failure was in driver mistake not the locker. And liked there HD ring and pinion set also:)

i see it can be done

but

why put more strength in the crown wheel and pinion gears because when the diff is shock loaded the weak point is still them little ****ty teeth inside the detroit locker

good question ask ashcroft they can answer better than I can. But they did say locker fail because of driver error. So you must be dooing something wrong then. You don;t like them , then thats your opinion then. But millions are installed every day on the assembly lines and millions in heavy vehicles civilian and military.
