hello im after some advice

if i turn my ignition on the green hdc light come on and goes out

when i turn the HDC on no light comes on in the dash i have followed some other threads already and taken the gear lever apart and checked the wiring until it goes under the carpet but still nothing

what else could be causing this to not work

HDC only works if 1st or Reverse selected.

Unless you are an avid off roader, I would'nt worry about it too much. Used mine once in anger and felt like we were shaking to bits. If you need it to work, the wiring at gear lever switch is starting point and well documented.

i was thinking a possible broken switch as the wiring isnt damaged to the switch is briging the wires with a wire a way to test if so i will do it now

get a cheap multimeter to check out circuits

what am i checking for voltage wise is it the standard 12v and what colour wires should be wire

check the switch opens and closes electrically by using the resistance setting.

i dnt have a multimeter to hand but i checked with a test light and one wire igition live and when i do the switch it send power down the purple wire

any help working out which one it is would be great i have had the car little over 24 hours

Short the wire on the HDC switch which is the same as pressing the switch to close the circuit. When switch is pressed and works HDC green should come on on the dash. Will be solid green if HDC available (correct gear 1st or reverse - if manual gearboxes can sense this) and flashing green if HDC not available due to a problem.

i bridged the switch (bypass) with wire and still no green light i have power to the switch and when i use the switch power travels down the other wire so all that bit works where else do this go

Does the green light come on when you switch the ignition to position 2 (electrics only)?
What engine/gearbox have you got? Below is a v6 start. Could be the buld blown.
Put it on a hill and short the wires and see if HDC works. Put in first gear with engine running.

Have you tried descending a hill? It might be fine.

hello being out today tried several hills all of diff steepness and the hill decent must be working as it doesnt just stall but no light on dash

i have looked on the rave CD and it says what wire the bulb is (pin17)

so i put a temp 12v to that wire to try and make the bulb come on and nothing... put my test light to the wire tho and it has power even when disconnected from the abs ecu it still has some power in the wire and no bulb

bulb does come on when ignition turned on tho

You know if its working. Brakes on and off and quite noisy - in my limited experience of HDC.
