Hi Guys and Girls,
Bought a L322 V8 HSE about a month ago now and very happy with, it was too cheap to say no:). Changed over the wheels from my P38 and checked it over and i must say very impressed, but only time will tell eh. A lot better drive than the P38 , seems more comfortable and definately quieter than the diesel. Be sorry to see the P38 go but the new one is a good un

Iv got the v8 on LPG and I chuffing love it, iv never had a car iv enjoyed so much

Do come on then...... Age? Mileage? How much you part with??
 
Those who know my story from June, know mine was an impulse purchase after seeing for sale at a snap.....

V8 on Gas is currently running 4-5p per mile cheaper than my DSE... :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Any reliability issues? I really fancy a nice leathered up L322 V8 on gas! ooh, heaven...

If I could find one in the new year at £5-6k it's doable..

Since June I have:

Repairs:
  • Replaced Thermostat £65 due to temp fluctuations caused by the Electric Heating Element
  • Replaced OSF ABS Sensor £17 casuing a CANBus Fault
  • Replaced Fuel Pump £170 Failed at the roadside (See How To Section)
  • Replaced Rad £165 (Due to a stone chip)
  • Brake Pads and Sensor all round £115
Odds and Sods:
  • Recalibrated Air Suspension at Dealer £75
  • EAS Fault Diagnosed as a dogey connection to NSR Sensor - Cleaned and Replaced
  • All Comms Purchased £185
  • Rear Parcel Shelf from the Bay of E £50
  • New 3 Tonne High Lift Jack £120
  • Trip to West Yorks to get the wheel off (Long Story search my threads for it) £130 including and overnight stay in a Hotel
To Do:
  • Rear Wiper Motor
  • Gearbox oil change
  • Service in January
  • Replace 2 rear tyres
Likes to pop the Windscreen washer hose off the pump and draining the Washer Tank so will have to look at that...

Drives like a dream.....has a BRC Multipoint system fitted in Jan 2011 with a 90L Tordial tank in the Spare Wheel well....I get avg 15.2mpg on LPG which is about 21p per mile whereas the DSE was returning about 26p per mile....

Leather is soft but not as hard wearing as the P38, the SatNav is looking dated, but is there only for guidance.....

If you get good one they're brill if you get a lemon they are a nightmare....

The only time we see better than 15 is when we visit the Old's in Ramsgate which is motorway and duel carriageway all the way.

90l tank - 72l usable...I get on average about 225 - 240 miles from a tank full

It helps that I drive gently, don't race, brake very very early, never leap off at the lights/junctions/roundabouts....I am not slow or hesitant, just smooth and road reading a long way ahead...

My Journey to work is 21 miles....8 miles are Country Lanes at a steady 40mph - 2 miles on a 50mph Duel Carriageway to the M25 - 7 miles on the M25 between J11 to J14 at a stead 50mph to J12 then 60mph to J14 then 4 miles round the Airport Perimeter to the office at 30-35mph and stop start between the Traffic Lights by World Cargo.

Journey Home is 21 miles either:
7 miles along the A312 from Hatton Cross to the A316 at Hanworth then A316 all along the M3 to J3 and off the A322 towards Guildford

or

4 miles along Perimeter Road to M25, M25 to J12 Staines, then off onto the A30 up Egham Hill past Holloway College, past Virginia Water, and then through Sunningdale and through Chobahm Village onto the A322 towards Guildford.....

I start work at 7.45 so leave before the main rush hour and usually finish at 15.45 so I leave before the main rush hour.

Journey time is about 50 minutes in the morning and 1hr in the evening.

The trick is to drive smoothly (not necessarily slow - just smmooth and anticipate the traffic and road read well ahead)

The worst I have had was 12.6 when on holiday in the Isle Of Wight with 4 fully grown adults in plus the Girlfriends enormous amount of camera gear in the boot....up hills and country roads stop/start etc....and I still managed 12.6 for the week we were there.

Know all about reading and planning, drove a London bus for a few years when I first left the Navy, a lot of reading the road ahead in that game, live cargo and all that!! In my Navy days took my steering ticket on a 315,000 ton Shell tanker, lots of reading the sea ahead behind the wheel of one of those lol.

Forgot to add, the misses drives the RR 95% of the time so that probably has something to do with it:rolleyes:

Replaced:
5 new tyres
New radiator
2 x main water pump (1 x faulty)
Auxiliary water pump
Thermostat
Disks and pads
2 x tie rod ends
Steering rack end

Odds and sods:
Repaired injector fault (iffy wiring)
Oil Service
LPG services nd calibration
Full coolant and rad flush

To do:
Missing towing hook cover
Parcel shelf clips (have a tendency to snap)
full service
Gearbox oil cooler currently leaking coolant needs replacing


But! You will love it :D
Recon it's cost me 3k in maintainance but that includes tyres at £1000

I get about 14mpg on LPG
