HELP viscus fan fell off

My viscous remained in the boot until we were out laning on Happy Valley this summer. Temp started to climb above half so stopped and screwed it back on. It remained at half way after this.
On the same day, Kipper overheated due to having no viscous. Luckily, Psulli had his in the boot so fitted that. Kipper never had any problems after that.

Be it laning or road driving and you're working the engine particularly hard in the summer, you need that fan. No question.

Both are 300tdi's, by the way - 1 auto, 1 manual.

Agree with you all.

I did notice my gauge rising last year at a pay and play.

But as said unless your working it real hard with next to no airflow then you'll be fine.

You dont need to know circumstances, it comes with a fan to cover the event which makes a fan a requirement. Land Rover designed it to be a standard requirement for general driving.

Hell he may as well leave the engine in the garage as he doesnt use the landrover for anything other than use as a paperweight.

If it heats up for any one of 100 reasons it NEEDS THE FAN and to just state "bollix" yours has never needed one is just a bull**** narrow minded answer. He could have heat issues/pipes, or his radiator may be blocked with a bit of off roading.. or the more common, a very hot day and hills/lack of movement.

"If it gets hot, turn the injun off and put the fan on. I used to carry mine in the back of the Disco, just in case. After 2 years it got filed in the garage."

LOL, in the middle of traffic jam just get out and pop the bonnet and slip the fan on.. uhh huhh such a sensible answer which will have the coppers nicking you if any are around which they are likely to be if its a road accident blocking the roads.

There are millions driving who have never used airbags it doesnt mean anything... there are pilots who havent used ejector seats... it doesnt mean anything.
you are very correct

Eric, jamesie, those are fatuous arguments.

To say that because lr did it, it must be correct, means that it would be wrong to do any modifications, because, for example LR didn't think it was necessary to fit diff guards or snorkle, then we shouldn't.
As for having the fan fitted because, one day, you might need it is like saying "all cars should have a spare tyre, because one day yu might need it".

Do you carry a spare water pump or brake pads?

We will never agree on this. Some people do and some don't. To the OP - make up your own mind.
you sir talk like a knob on several subjects

James much as I think your a decent chap-sometimes you do not do yourself any favors.
Opinions are like arseholes- we all have them. Agree to disagree
hey ?if you think i should back down for age or post count or whatever your mistaken ,you spout a load of crap at times why cant i express mine

So we are both full of crap at times :hysterically_laughi:hysterically_laughi ( I'll remember that for a comedy moment when stranded on a toilet next)

Because I'm suggesting how to win friends and influence people (Dale Carnigie)

There seems to be a position/ego situation and it does you no favors.

I gave up worrying about ego/what people think of me a long time ago- I am who I am and to be human is to have faults.

I as got to agree wif fanny ere.

Sometimes I ain't got a clue what he is waffling about but he and the people he is addressing obviously do. It's an opinion, everyone has one. It don't mean it's the right one though!

I also think my viscous fan doesn't need to be there, that's my opinion.

If you disagree, just say "I disagree with you". You don't need to call someone a **** and say there full of ****!

It's impolite for one. Also, the smilies help to display if your jesting or serious.

See :D light hearted. ;)

See post #19.
I am not asking that you take your fan off, just that I ( and others) have found that It has not been needed.

I will not stoop to your childish personal attacks, only to say that you are not always correct, James. Taking this " if you don't agree with me, yu are talking ****e", is not helpful.

The OP asked if he should refit the fan or not. The answers are contradictory and appear to depend on the use the vehicle is being put.

I am not particularly concerned whether he does, or doesn't.

hahaha I've just read this fred in one go. wow! sounds like everyone needs a fan just to cool things down a bit :D

for info... I have my fan fitted, don't think I've ever really needed it so far, but am leaving it on :D:D
