About to buy an old Freelander - help!

Hi there I am a total newbie to landrovers - however we have decided that we would like a freelander TD4 and we have a budget of about £3500. I've been searching for what we can get for this price and it seems to be about an 02/03 plate with mileage of about 70-90k or the odd 04 plate facelift model does seem to come up with a higher mileage.

One of the things I wondered was did the 03/04 facelift model have any advantages over the older style other than cosmetic? Ie would I be better off buying a newer but higher mileage facelift model than an older style, older aged car with lower mileage? I do low mileage about 5k a year so if I got a higher mileage car I could bring the mileage down about over a couple of years. Is there any other advice you can give me over what to look for?

Thanks in advance

There are no known faults on the Freelanders so you will be fine. Just make sure you get the petrol version and preferably the first one you see. Also, make sure you spend all of your £3,500. :)

We really should be charging for information of this quality:D:D:D:D:D;););););)

Might I just add that there is ABSOLUTELY NO NEED to look underneath it at the props because people never mess about with them;)

And whats the wheel thing

I keep seeing comments when people ask about them.

I am assuming from the comments on this thread that asking for bigger ones is a no no :D

But when I put pics of my Defender on you all laughed at its little wheels.

So is it OK to ask how to make my little wheels bigger but not normal wheels.

How is anyone supposed to understand these rules and are they written down anywhere :eek::p:p:D:D

try phrasing it along the lines of... "What tyres should I put on my new defender/disco/range rover/gaylander" and see wot happens :D

No thanks, want a quiet life. My Defender is happy enough with her little wheels :D :D She just wants them painting pink

If you do actually go ahead and buy a Gaylander, having professed to knowing Nowt about them, then believe me, you will need this forum and the knowledge on it FAR more than it needs you.
So why not take the advice of Mr Haggis and move on.

I can personally attest to the veracity of this sagacious observation. Be nice, because if you buy a Freelander, you will need all the help you can get.
