Happy Crimbo:

Today my fixed Classic was excellent.

I then adjusted the drivers seat using the side controls. Then the driver's mirror moved??
After I stopped ****ing myself laughing at this comedy modification, I realised I can no longer move the seat (not even witht the dash mirror controls)

Any thoughts?

I wonder if I press the horn the passenger airbag will deploy????????

the ECU that controls the seat , for memory settings , also controls the mirrors and reverse dipping of the mirrors . So it's ecu , or xy switch on gearbox . OR you have the same fault as mine , and if you find it please let me know . Every time I wire in the mirrors seat , mirrors develop a mind of there own . Fun this range rover thing innit !

Can I ask you, how many bloody different positions do you want/need? I do mine that's it haven't touched it for months, but then again I haven't grown or shrunk since then :D:D

Well 5 different people use the truck and guess what, we are all different shapes and sizes hence moving the seat! Happy Crimbo Dopey

You have to start sorting your family out in size, too big or small get shot of them (you know its gona be cheaper that way)

is the xy switch on the gearbox the inhibit switch? if so it answers sooooo many problems i have!

Memory seat ecu plays up when the internal battery leaks and damages the tracks on the board. If the damage is not too severe it can be repaired but would recommend you open the ECU box and have a look sharpish. The ecu will work if the battery is removed but it will not store mirror and seat positions in memory.

There is quite a lot of info on the net, one of the best is actually on a Rolls Royce/Bentley forum - same ECU!

I am quite sure it should be possible to bypass the memory part of the ecu but I'm not an electronics genius - I have figured out the relays bit the driver chips give me a headache. If anybody knows how to bypass the memory circuits I for one would be very interested.

I just wired the seat relays with there own feed and an inline fuse . no memory but at least the seat moves .

How have you stopped the memory seat and mirror switches from burning out? As I understand the system, the seats and mirrors with memory can't switch the full current/voltage as the ecu supplies 3.6v to the switches. The ecu then uses another relay to switch the main relays to make the motors move. At least that's how I understand it.

xy switch is the one that tells ECU that gearbox is in reverse so it can dip mirrors to aid reversing .

I'm sorry, what's this mirror dipping business all about?? On an RRC? Never noticed my mirrors door that on my '91 Vogue SE (electric non-memory seats) or my '94 Vogue SE (electric memory seats, soft-dash)?!

A bit over-priced! The battery is a fiver (delivered) - it is a common battery and nothing special. As for the driver chips, I don't really know, but I'll bet they are a standard component. Why pay over the odds?
