Clutch plate, cover and release bearing - 6.7 hours.
Slave cylinder - 7.1 hours

so thats about, wot, £103 an hour?

Clutch Kit TD4 Genuine AP URB500070 G @ £83.33
Clutch Slave Cylinder 1/ Bearing TD4 UUB000070 G @£49.99
from Island 4x4

all the this bloke does it for £650 is fine and dandy if you are near to him....if not you are going to have to get the vehicle to him, the link says £1.80 per mile so if you live in say bristol thats about 214 miles thats £385 on top of the cost of the clutch then you have to drive it home (with fuel at an average of £1.37/l) you are looking at putting an extra £500 on top before you even get the car touched!!!!

Average local Labour rates down here in Cornwall £110 per hr main dealer £60 per hour independent, time quoted for a clutch replacement 7 hrs so roughly £770 main dealer and £420 independent (both plus parts) if both work on Land Rover times, problem is not many independents work to land Rover times.

Got mine done last year on my TD4 by a Landy specialist (not a landy dealer) for £600. Only thing that wasn't changed was the flywheel and that price didn't cover the master cylinder. (had that changed for £200 a few weeks before) I remember looking into it back then and it appeared that I paid top dollar for that, so it sounds like you were ripped off.

Main dealer in the midlands is about £85+vat. LR independents are about £60+vat.
