yes the only way it could get melted unless your giving poor description or are mistaken is with poor earths and cable been used as one ,normaly hand brake cable

no its were its been sitting on top of the gearbox and the heat has melted through.

it hasnt melted cable its just melted the plastic outer sheath

if you have poor earths current when starting can melt sheathing on cables such as yours generally hand brake cable

Finally sorted it managed to strip the cable right down greased it all up. all sorted now cheers for the help
