Why is there so much negativity on this forum?

I'm an outsider on here with 1 post and some positive replies but have sifted through more rubbish, insults and general mick taking than anything else to find the great pieces of information that there are on here. Why humilate new members because they want to become a Land Rover owner of any model/state etc? If you are trying to build a self help community this type of attitude is a great way to alienate people and lose potential knowledge. If you've never had a Freelander and never want a Freelander and have nothing of value to bring to a discussion why waste yours and other members time? I'm sure the first rebuttal will be along the lines of "This is a free country" or "I can post what I like" and the spiral of descent will continue but at least I have tried to be positive, engage with fellow members in a friendly way. I Like my Freelander but I also like all Land Rover products along with Saab, Ford, Audi, Citroen etc I just like engineering and technology.

folder permissions on web folder perhaps?
