Hello!

So i've been a member of the forum for a while now, i've posted a fair bit, i've given some people some help, and i've taken LOADS of help from others  but i've never posted up any pics of what i've been working on since January!

So, i took a few shots at the weekend to sort that out.

Brief spec is:

'92 3.5 V8 5 Door 7 Seat Twin Sunroof.
118,000 miles.
Engine stock, apart from sealed and vented distributor, and smaller centre silencer/no rear silencer.
Transmission stock, apart from cross drilled input gear.
Twin ARB air lockers.
3" lift, on Bearmach and Procomp.
Full polybush.
Rebuilt axles, new seals/bearings throughout.
Electric fans/HD 4 row radiator.
Front arches & sills replaced, various other welding. (Boot floor patched up, realistcally needs replacing but cba)

Etc etc etc, you can see most of it anyway! :D

I'm looking forward to seeing some comments!

Nice Landy but I think you should put the spare wheel on the back. :p

nathan:

youre not kidding mate!

ive been working on it most nights since january.

has been a good laugh though, its a pleasure to modify/repair cos everything so big, easy, and accessible. and theres parts galor available and at good prices.

the main thing is its a hobby for me, so i like something that keeps me occupied!

thanks :)

Nice Landy but I think you should put the spare wheel on the back. :p

tbh mate i think i prefer the wheel on the back, but i do kinda like the smooth look too.

but the reason it went in there was because it's so damn heavy i didnt want the strain on the door, the hinges are pretty worn already!

and trust me, i could use the extra space too!

Blimey..i expected to see Dr Spock in the passenger seat...it looks like the bridge of the Enterprise..not that i ever watched star trek, not me, no..

That is indeed a tidy looking disco....

nice truck mate, you can clearly see you put a lot of time/money into it,was it standard when you started?

cheers pal

yeah it was standard, it was at work for about 2 years as the run around/tow vehicle, and then when i sold my previous car i asked about this disco, and soon after that i was building it as a project offroader.

we lifted it on 40mm spring blocks and fitted 31" tyres when it was still being used at work, and after i got it i did take it on its forst offroad day just as it was, but very soon after that i started adding bits properly.

i sorted out the front end which was nearly hanging off, fitted the snorkel and front bumper, then the lift kit and wheels/tyres, and so on and so on...!

cheers :)

lol yeah, i am a swine for switches, i blummin love a bit of a gadget here and there :D

all useful stuff though, battery monitors, dash mounted winch switch, phone holder etc etc.

ok i admit, the extra rev counter was unneccessary, that was me being me! hey, it was cheap and i was bored!

:D

there the tidiest ht leads ive ever seen!
lol yeah, thanks mate!

i was browsing a thread one day and someone posted up a pic of the OEM lead pattern.

i had in past tried to get them nice, but never knew how to cross over no 8 lead in the right place.

anyway, i was lucku that the motor still had all the original lead clips in place, so i made a point of following the oem poicture to get them clipped up correctly.

wouldnt have it any other way these days!! :D

Do you press a big button to start it?

If no then it's not finished:D

Nice pics - do you normally leave the tow rope on the front? Not worried about it getting nicked?

cheers pal

its never ending is it,my 90(profile pic) was standard when i got it,ive just kept adding and adding since i got it,everytime i come home from offroading i think of a way to improve its performance, the missus goes mad with me but i just keep telling her its "natural progresion"like you say though its a hobby and its great fun, with something to show at the end of it all, just dont tell the missus how much it all cost:behindsofa:

landowner:

dont get me "started" on a starter switch! :D

i seem to remember i was thinking about fitting one, i made an igntion panel for a vitara i had previously, but the only thing which stopped me is that my mantra for this car (the rugged offorader for manly men only) is that i should only add something if i need it. the winch for example is necessary. the second rev counter...? well, i justified it to myself cos the standard alternator fed one is very innacurate, it goes off usually when the alternator gets wet, and it doesnt seem to go topside of 3500 rpm (which i do occasionally exceed) SO because the igntion switch works just fine i decided not to complicate the issue.

although i havent decided yet whether it would be handy to have a big starter button mounted on the dash near the air locker switches so that if i stall whilst offroading i can easily fire the engine up without having to fiddle with the switch or turn the ignition off to restart (cos that unlocks the diffs)

thats a long answer to your question :D

and paul, the tow rope is actually tow ropes, it is two metre lengths with loops spliced in the end, which i use as a bridle rope when its really stuck and needs a snatch out.

the shackles to which they are attached are tightened with a spanner to stop folk undoing them.

although tbh mate im **** scared about the whole thing getting nicked cos you can open it with a spoon and hot wire it in a few minutes, not to mention just smashing a window and robbing stuff out of it.

for this reason it usually never gets keft unattended and it spends most of its life in a lock up! :D

thanks for your comments guys!

yes mate, your 90 looks quality there pal.

i would obviously love a 90, who wouldnt, but i just cant stomach the initial cost of the vehicle. the cheapest ones i have seen are like 4000 upwards!

i think the disco in total as it is now has cost me about 4000 total, and its a hellalot comfier to drive down the road in! :D

we had a 04 plate 90 county in at work recently, and i jumped in it, ripped my trousers on the door catch in the process, and put the seat fully back, and my legs were still up against the blummin steering wheel, and im only 5'10" !!!

for that reason i decided i had made the right choice with my 1000 pound disco :D :D :D

as for the other thing, i try to take Mrs. offroading as often as possible, and she actually really enjoys it. it kinda makes it easier for her to understand why i can rarely afford to buy her any prezzies! OOPS! :D

Now thats what I call a proper job!!

BTW. Where did you get those seat covers from?

gee, thanks mate! :)

just type in this item number into ebay, they are the ones i bought

180578053456

REALLY impressed with them, much better than i thought they would be, they fit VERY well!

and they arrived quick too! :D
