Can we assume this is a cold and hot start problem. If it is only hot then our previous cases have been cam sensor.NSC 100610 was deleted due to problems and replaced by NSC 000310L and harness YSB 002390.

TD4 inlet manifolds are plastic and can suffer cracks. When cold the problem dosen't show, but once hot and under hard acceleration the crack opens and a power loss is experienced. A smoke test will not show this.

We have seen this problem in our workshop. Ask your local Autologic or LR to go into Headlamp control and run through faults/actuations/dynamic data and ecu info. If faults will not clear or specifically no comms, suspect water ingress or h/lamp ecu .

This can also be a worn injector pump,as it wears the pump timing goes out of range, advance the pump or check injection modulation with Autologic.

needle lift sensor in main injector pump gets blocked with swarf,before relaceing pump,persevere with Forte diesel cleaner in the tank.Seen one P38 take 3 bottles before finally clearing.Put it into a full tank one at a time to give it a chance to purge the dirt/laquer.
