    Bonnet rivet size

RE spare on the bonnet, that's why I reinforced mine with 2mm wall box section. See the top post here: https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/straight-6-rebuild.266514/page-5

    Bonnet rivet size

Don't know what they were originally but when I replaced the frame on mine I used 6.4mm diameter pop rivets, not original but did the job.

Coolant system question - real life test against theory?

The fluid level on mine is normally about a half inch above the level of the perforated top plate thing inside the radiator so yes, mine has some air in the rad.

Stood for 20 yrs - 109 series 3 resto thread.

Sheet metal bent up bit by bit and you'll get there. I didn't have access to a sheet metal bender so all the profiles I needed were bent by clamping the metal between two bits of angle iron in a vice with the ends clamped together with g clamps to give a sharp 90 degree corner to bend the metal...

Stood for 20 yrs - 109 series 3 resto thread.

A couple of years ago someone was making and selling the inner and outer parts of that top rail and selling them on ebay, just had a quick look and can't see any for sale at the minute. When I did mine I just bent up what I needed to replace, wasn't too difficult as long as you take it one...

Series 3 Help to ID part.

Afternoon Pete, it's a flame trap assembly ERC2042, seems to have now been superceded by ERC2042L: https://www.thexmod.com/item_detail.asp?id=6786 Cheers Ash

Series 3 Reverse gear jumping out

The replacement reverse selector fork that I fitted to my box needed some tickling with a grinder as it fouled on the 1st/2nd selector fork when sliding the fork backwards and would only throw the gear into partial engagement. I presume you would have noticed this if this was an issue with yours.

Series 3 Reverse gear jumping out

Worn? Nah, mine was worn, never once jumped out of reverse though. The old one's the one on the left if you couldn't tell...

    Seatbelt mounting

Sounds wrong to me, mine was fitted with static belts from that factory so that's all it should be required to have for it's MOT. It never used to have a middle seat belt so I bought a third static three point belt and installed that, again no issues with MOT.

    Seatbelt mounting

I run mine as a truck cab in the winter and a soft top in the summer, in both instances I have the seatbelts (static belts, not inertia reels) mounted to the bulkhead. Never had an issue with MOTs but I try not the think about their shoulder snapping potential being mounted so low should I ever...

    Straight 6 rebuild

It may be from 1st/2nd, I'll report back. My box had no issues with popping out of gear or anything, there was a bit of a whine from 3rd and you had to double declutch to drive it without it crunching but the gears selected fine (even reverse with that dodgy selector fork!) and it drove fine...

    Straight 6 rebuild

Have been having fun and games with the gearbox for the last 2 weeks, a gearbox change has been on the cards for a while as the synchromesh on 3rd and 4th has been pretty non existent for the last couple of years, I've just been double declutching and it's not been too much of a problem. The...

Series 3 88' hood stick DIY

There you go, there's an image in this thread with dimensions, obviously you'll need to adjust for the difference in length and number of hoops on the 88. https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/109-3-4-hood-stick-dimensions.223233/#post-2578313 I don't know how he got on building his, he never...

Series 3 88' hood stick DIY

I did measure up my 109's hood sticks several years ago for someone on here as they wanted to make their own, I'll see if I can dig out the post.

Series 3 109 Front Right Inner Hub Seal 1981

There is a way of changing it without pulling the hub apart. If you remove the spring from the new seal and un-thread it from itself to open it out, cut the rubber seal with a sharp knife and then cut the metal ring with a hack saw to complete the cut you can then open the ring and thread it...

    Series 3 turning a 109 into a 1Ton

Ging360 - are you a member of the 900 club forum? It's a bit quiet (a lot quieter than here!) but I suspect you may get more definitive answers regarding 1 tons on there.

    Series 3 turning a 109 into a 1Ton

    I think you're confusing 1 tons with Stage 1s.

    Series 3 turning a 109 into a 1Ton

With a V8 in the front and 1.2 tons in the back fuel consumption should be interesting!
