Bleeding tried but to no avail turned out to be the head cam after all, so after a new head cam and gaskets and a large hole in my wallet he's running beautifully again, phew! lol :-) Thanks again 'Dewin' and 'Disco147' your help is much appreciated xx

Have just taken the 'coolant expansion tank' cap off to see if the level has gone down anymore overnight (it hasn't) - as I undid the cap there was definitely a pressure in their and when the cap came off the coolant 'gurgled' for 5-10 seconds - is this normal? :confused:

Cheers for that :) The switch is a brand new one (land rover part) so I guess it looks like its wear on the "gear stick yoke" then - is this something I could check for and if so rectify myself? (Remembering I'm a newby :o)

Might be worth putting a new one on (£4.95 off Ebay and only a ten minute job). Once I'd removed mine I could see that there were a couple of splits where the jubilee clips were etc. Let me know how you get on :D

Bertie's new engine breather pipe did the trick (as well as his new leak off pipes, cyclone breather and oil cap) he's now as dry as dry can be!!!!! Woop woop woop not a leak in sight even after a two hour drive!!! :D

Yep I'm sure that as I do more work on Bertie in the years to come I'll be thinking back to that sweet little cyclone breather job and think "if only it were that simple now!" ;)
