High Milage, Manual or Auto ?

Hi all I'm looking to buy a second D2 TD5 It's going to be an all rounder, work chariot, occasional green lane. i've been looking at engines up to 150000 though i've seen one at 170000. question is, at that sort of mileage, am I better off getting an auto over a manual ? although the TD5 is...

    Essex lanes

Had a look at a few today, at least I tried, most of them had gone already, the rest were silly prices. wickford one wasn't there today. one bloke got a bit nervous, probably because I turned up in the family one which is quite tidy. the boot is roughly 8" bigger and I will remove the boot...

Thanks beerdude, i'd agree, the auto I already have is a very civilised ride, shame I cant use that, but I did buy it for the wife (sort of):D would you say that manuals have more issues than auto's, they have a duel mass fly wheel don't they ? Brian S, I have looked at a few and i'm...

    Guess the oil leak anyone?

have had both leak on my td5, by the look of the picture I would check the front cam shaft oil seal (black plastic cover) if you can move it with your fingers, it's shot. you'll be surprised how much mess they can make, good thing if it is this, it's a cheep quick fix.

OK, Want a bit of feed back before I go and do something really noisy and scare the s**t out of the neighbours. according to my MAF data, air is not getting in. could it be more of a case the exhaust gas isn't getting out ? I believe it has a particulate filter in the exhaust not a cat. just...

    Help needed, what next ?

thanks, will try this. it has to be either electrical or fuel related surely ? it's the MAF AAP and MAP readings that are so confusing which leads to electrical. as said before, it was loosing power slowly and not by much, enough to make you think air filter or MAF. the only thing changed...
