Now that the lights are getting lighter I've started to explorer more around my disco and spotted a small leak. Looking from underneath it's on the right hand side near the alternator. The alternator seems to be getting the brunt of the oil at the moment. From the top of the engine, left hand side all seems dry.

Any thoughts would be most welcome

Check the pipe from intercooler to manifold, if this is loosebit could seep oil onto the alt. Happened on mine and once tightened didn't do it again! 😊

The round black plastic cover to the front if the cam on the front if the engine has a rubber seal which goes quite flat and hard over time and oil comes through that and down the engine. A new cover and seal is only a fiver or so and takes seconds to replace. Could be that as a quick check....?

have had both leak on my td5, by the look of the picture I would check the front cam shaft oil seal (black plastic cover) if you can move it with your fingers, it's shot.
you'll be surprised how much mess they can make, good thing if it is this, it's a cheep quick fix.

Just ordered a couple from ebay for front and back. It did seem the leak was further down lower than the manifold but worth replacing I guess.

One way of looking at it is that it is under sealing the Disco automatically! I've had a few D1's and D2's and I've never had one that didn't leak from somewhere. My current one is depositing a fine film of Transfer Box oil all over the place and leaves it's signature wherever I park it!
