I am just about to start wiring my winch into my Defender 90. Do I need to take the earth back to the battery or can I take it to the chassis? I plan on taking the live from the battery via a cutoff switch out to the solenoid which is going in the top of the nearside wing.

I took the rear diff out today which was simple enough, pull the half shafts and drop the diff. No need to remove the wheels. Is it the same process for the front? Defender 90!!!

Out green laneing in Wales and my PAS belt shredded. It had been squeaking for a few days and then went. It started to squeak really loudly and then clouds of smoke before snapping. The alternator belt also has a slight squeak as well. Both looked quite old with cracking. Belt or pump?

I have seen kits for locking the axel diffs together. Are these a good idea? How do you fit them? Seems like an interesting idea for being able to lock them and the standard centre diff?
