    Roll Cage Corrosion?

Evening all! Progress continues on my Defender 90 - chassis and bulkhead just got back from galvanising which is exciting! I have also just had my Safety Devices external roll cage arrive. I am considering getting the factory coating blasted off then having the cage zinc arc sprayed and painted...

    300Tdi Bulkhead Galvanising

I will soon be removing the bulkhead from my Defender with the aim of getting it galvanised and have a few queries: Can anyone tell me what seals and parts I should aim to get in advance before refitting the bulkhead and windscreen? So far I have identified: - bulkhead to windscreen seal - vent...

    Bulkhead & Dashboard Removal

Good morning all! Can anyone direct me to a thread showing the steps to strip and remove a 300Tdi bulkhead and windscreen, including dashboard removal? I assume this has been covered but having trouble finding the right thread. If there is also a thread showing how to refit bulkhead and...

    External Roll Cage Added Height?

Could you measure from the top of the roof to the top of the roll cage? My Defender has lifted suspension so is already slightly higher than normal.

    External Roll Cage Added Height?

Afternoon all, I am looking at a Safety Devices external roll cage for my 90 and I would like to know exactly how much height it adds to the vehicle. Is there anyone with one fitted who could take an accurate measurement for me? Thank you

    Rev counter installation query

Hi all, I have bought a VDO rev counter for my 300tdi Defender. I have checked the alternator and it has the w terminal. Can anyone tell me what other parts are required for installation (wires, connectors etc)? Cheers

    F*ck!....What now?

I actually ended up doing it using the old crank gear to push the seal, but I had to use a crowbar to get enough force on the seal to get it in as even a hammer was having no effect! Job all finished now so I am a happy man. ;)

    F*ck!....What now?

Thanks for the advice: have done the JB weld and came out great, but these seals are so tight I don't know how to get the new one in. Suggestions?

    F*ck!....What now?

And before anyone else says it: yes I know that every "how to change a cambelt" thread says to be careful not to damage the seal housing when you remove it.

    F*ck!....What now?

I am doing a cambelt change on my 300Tdi at the moment. I removed the old crank pulley, but then was unable to lever out the oil seal behind it, so I decided to carefully drill a hole in it to get better leverage/hook it. The plan worked and I was able to lever it out, but I then found that...

    Fuel pump replacement

How is replacement done? Do I access the pump via the top of the seatbox?

    Fuel pump replacement

The in-tank fuel pump on my 1986 Ninety has stopped working: I think the vehicle is punishing me for upgrading to a 300Tdi :) Can anyone provide me with a part number for a new pump? It is for a 2.5 Petrol model. Also, what is the procedure for removing the old pump and fitting the new: do I...

New guy with 90 and a decision to make

If you go for the 300tdi you will have the R380 gearbox which is superior to the LT77, but there are complications around fitting Discovery gearboxes to Defenders. Have a search of the forum, there are hundreds of threads relating to engine transplants using 200Tdi and 300Tdi engines and also...

    Fuel Pump Part Number

Just as I am about to sell my Ninety it seems that the in-tank fuel pump has died..... typical  I always have trouble finding part numbers for the vehicle as it is pre-Defender. Ca someone let me know the part number for the in-tank fuel pump on a 1986 2.5 petrol Ninety? Thanks

    Roof removal

Yes, but will I need to replace the seals having split the roof and the tub? Has anyone removed their cappings to get them galvanised? Did you replace the seals around the top of the tub?

    My new Defender!

A legitimate question. I will be swapping the current wheels which are fitted with Kumho tyres onto my 1986 Ninety to sell it and keeping the genuine Land Rover wheels which are currently on my Ninety (and which are fitted with brand new BFG 235 85 R16 AT tyres)
