Hi all, has anyone had problems with premature failure of the delphi lift pump. I replaced my old pump on my defender with a delphi 4 weeks and 600 miles ago and it's gone. Usual symptoms of no power under load, no leaks or air leaks and revs well when in neutral.

I generally cruise on the motorway at 70 when I'm there. But when in Europe on Hols, 80 is comfortable. I've fitted dynamat sound proofing to sort the noise issue and poly brushes sorted out the "bobblyness" . It's taken me 5 years and there's still more projects I've got planned.

A combination of door seals and bent deals on mine. Dry foot wells and feet now:D:cool:

Hahahaha, sorry mate I thought you were ragging me. My 1995 300 tdi 110 CSW (the one in the picture) will happily plod along at 80 all day long. Problem turned out to be the lift pump was dying. It would pump strongly on the priming handle but It was wheezing like an asthmatic under load...

Hi AL203, the problem was sorted with the help of all the other guys who worked out that when I posted on the 300 tdi forum I was talking about a 300 tdi engine. But thanks for pointing that one out

Sorry forgot to mention that one, yes I have there's no slack when fully depressed and the engine revs very strong without hesitation. Just no boost power:(

Alright Grem yep it was seized. So it couldn't pump the fuel up to the injectors. And yeah I changed it myself mate. I've got a pump timing pin set so it was pretty straightforward. I just checked everything I done twice hahaha

My apologies all. We've been caught up in chemo therapy since my last post. I sent the pump away Marmaduke to be remanufactured. Contaminated diesel had seized it solid.
