Immobilisation spider location on Def 1997 300 Tdi?

Thanks a lot Ratty! Helpful information there! I'm however still puzzled about the location... :P

Some Frenchies in a Slitty at Plage Blanche

Very good pictures you got of it! Was there 6 months ago - it is really an empty place, not like you can count on finding anyone to tow you out. And as soon as water saturates the sand, it does become a lot more difficult to get it out. Good reminder to always watch the tide...

Immobilisation spider location on Def 1997 300 Tdi?

I see your point. But since this is an expedition vehicle I need to be on top of this immobilisation stuff before anything goes wrong - as it will most certainly be in the wrong place. Disabling it seems easy with the Disco bypass harness - but to do that I need to know where it is in the...

Immobilisation spider location on Def 1997 300 Tdi?

Sounds comforting :) Did you ever find out where it was located? Or how the immobilisation works if there really is no spider?

Immobilisation spider location on Def 1997 300 Tdi?

No, there is none. That's the thing... :(

Immobilisation spider location on Def 1997 300 Tdi?

Aah, this one, seen it a long time ago, thanks for refreshing! Reading in the pdf, it seems the spider is only present on non-EDC 300 Tdi's, otherwise this funtion is controlled by an engine management ECU (quote below). But I know that my Defender is not an EDC - it has a perfectly normal stop...

Immobilisation spider location on Def 1997 300 Tdi?

Hmm.. good point. Would a 10AS alarm box replace the spider? I was under the impression that the alarm box was separate from the spider - at least that is how things are shown in the wiring diagrams (usually found on google as a pdf: "electrical schemes - defender 300 tdi.pdf", page 14). I...

Brake disc compatibility ABS vs non-ABS

Now, a detailed one - will ABS rear solid brake discs (SDB100980) fit a Defender sans ABS (it's a 1997 300 Tdi). Happen to have a set lying around, but I am unsure if the hole pattern etc. is the same (and it is just the additional hole for the ABS sensor that is different). Normally FTC3846...

Immobilisation spider location on Def 1997 300 Tdi?

Yea, that link seems like the usual disco stuff, of which there is plenty on google - but this is a Defender and all Defender related material points to the seatbox - and there it ain't on mine! Maybe my Defender was built 1st of April and Solihull decided to play funny ;P Hide and seek dear...

235/85R16 tyres on standard LR 5.5J rims?

Has anyone put 235/85R16 tyres on standard LR 5.5J steel rims? Normally 6J is recommended, but the difference in width is very small so is will fit - just a question whether the tyres will stay on the rims in turns

Immobilisation spider location on Def 1997 300 Tdi?

Reading all the forums and workshop manuals, it should be clear as water that the location of the immobilisation spider is in the battery box under LH front seat. Not the case in my 1997 Defender 300 Tdi. It is nowhere to be found in either seatboxes (and believe me when I say I have had my head...

    Clutch pedal staying on floor

Hi all! Bled the clutch today - and guess what! The system was jam packed with air. No wonder. Mystery solved - the cheap way! THanks all!

I believe I read that somewhere - since I might have done 5 or so without topping up it might just be that :D

    Clutch pedal staying on floor

First, yeez, what load of crap the last 20 posts  Anyway, thanks all for the posts that did contain useful information. :) I am bleeding it again tomorrow to see if the master just gulped a load of air as the fluid level did get down quite far before filling during the last bleed. If I am...

    Clutch pedal staying on floor

Hi all! I did a clutch bleed a couple of days ago on a 1997 Def 110 300 Tdi with an R380 - all went fine with fluid coming out using a one-man bleeding kit (the-hose-into-jar type). As expected the clutch pedal went to the floor, stayed there, and had to be pulled up for each bleed pump (a...

Pop quiz for electrics experts (and others)!

Pop'ed the lid open today and found there are three pins deeply buried in a tubular hole. Don't know if that helps with the identification.

Pop quiz for electrics experts (and others)!

Yes, there is also one of those under the cubby on this 300 Tdi as well - but that one is for certain an ODB for the EGR box. This one though... no idea...
