    Had a similar problem with mine and it turned out to be the Mass Air Flow sensor. Located just off the airfilter box. They seem to have a habit of giving up after a period of time. Most chaps on here will tell you to avoid after market MAF sensors due to poor quality. OE ones cost up to £70...
